太重煤機與全國各科研院所開展產(chǎn)、學、研、用合作，組建了“智能采礦裝備技術(shù)全國重點實驗室”、“中國現(xiàn)代采掘設(shè)備研究院”、“山西省冶金設(shè)備設(shè)計理論與技術(shù)重點實驗室”、“山西省煤機行業(yè)技術(shù)中心”、“煤礦裝備研究生教育創(chuàng)新中心”、“山西省金屬軋制精整裝備工程研究中心”、“礦山機械 CAE 工程技術(shù)中心”、太原市太重煤機院士工作站、“博士后科研工作站”等科研開發(fā)和創(chuàng)新平臺。大力推動技術(shù)創(chuàng)新，企業(yè)科研開發(fā)與產(chǎn)品自主創(chuàng)新能力不斷提高。
公司擁有較先進的信息化平臺，能集成應(yīng)用PDM、CAD、CAE、ERP、DNC、煤機云平臺等系統(tǒng)，對產(chǎn)品設(shè)計、開發(fā)、生產(chǎn)、維護過程進行仿真、評估和優(yōu)化，基本實現(xiàn)了產(chǎn)品開發(fā)、生產(chǎn)制造及管理數(shù)字化，保證了產(chǎn)品的質(zhì)量、交貨期、經(jīng)濟性，為數(shù)字化工廠，智能化生產(chǎn)提供支撐。公司現(xiàn)擁有有效專利190項，其中發(fā)明專利15項，實用新型專利172項外觀設(shè)計專利2項，軟件著作權(quán)1項。發(fā)表科研著作2本。

公司投資10億元建設(shè)煤機工業(yè)園，園區(qū)占地750畝，新建廠房16萬平方米，引進英國、 德國、日本等較先進的加工裝備，擁有800（臺）套高精尖機械加工設(shè)備，具有年產(chǎn)采 煤機200臺、掘進機200臺、液壓支架2000 架的生產(chǎn)制造能力，是國內(nèi)裝備水平較高、 試驗手段較齊全的煤機成套裝備制造基地。主導(dǎo)產(chǎn)品采煤機的電控、液壓、減速機、滾筒 四大核心部件全部在園區(qū)內(nèi)自主生產(chǎn)配套。

公司設(shè)有中心試驗室，擁有先進的金屬材料理化分析設(shè)備、齒輪加工設(shè)備及其相應(yīng)的檢測手段。包括先進的激光跟蹤 儀移動三坐標檢測設(shè)備、 齒輪測量儀 、弧齒錐齒輪刀盤檢查儀、倒置金相顯微鏡及軟件評析系統(tǒng)、顯微硬度機等設(shè)備。
公司產(chǎn)品試驗設(shè)備完備，包括采煤機部件 ( 截割部、牽引部、減速機、 液壓泵站、電控箱 ) 加載試驗臺、采煤機爬坡試驗、 掘進機假巖壁截割試驗臺、“三機一架”成套工作面聯(lián)動綜合試驗設(shè)備、低溫裝配機等。
